We often speak of the ominous clouds
We experienced in our lives one day;
The terrible affect that those clouds had;
But do we think about kneeling to pray?
As we read God’s Word, different clouds
Become clear to our Spiritual eye.
So many clouds, the Word tells us about,
Which helps to feel God is nigh.
There’s the special cloud that held the rainbow
When, Noah and crew saw dry land.
This was a promise of God, holding comfort.
Long ago, God had it all planned.
There was the cloud of the hand of God,
Who led His people to the Promised Land.
They could see that His presence was near
As He led them through wilderness and sand.
God’s presence in the cloud on the mercy seat
Showed His great mercy, from above
When priests returned from communing with God,
The cloud filled the temple with God’s love.
In Job, it speaks of God’s light in the clouds;
The work of one perfect in knowledge;
Showing wisdom, and understanding heart,
God’s wisdom was not from a college.
Clouds speak of times refreshing,
When God sends the needed rain.
His favor is like that latter rain
As he meets our petitions again!
There was testimony in the bright cloud
This overshadowed God’s beloved Son.
God’s voice confirmed the reason for it,
Christ’s obedience pleased God and each one.
The clouds are a sign of our weather,
Rising from the west, produces rain!
A promise to the heart of a farmer,
God is supplying their need once again!
God speaks of the clouds of witnesses,
Encouraging us to lay aside sin,
Running the race He set before us,
Will bring joy of His presence within.
When our Savior went back up to heaven
A cloud carried Him out of their sight.
Our victory comes by His example,
His Spirit leads through each dark night.
When Jesus comes back, He’ll come in the clouds,
Eyes will see Him, as He returns again,
We’ll join Him in the air in great triumph;
Earthly trials will seem so minor then!
But, oh, the sadness of the many souls,
Those who pierced Him and those that rejected;
The love that He offered, the price that He paid,
It’s too late, because of all they neglected.
To those who know my wonderful Savior,
Join the cloud of God’s witnesses now:
Or the regrets of our lives will be many
When at the feet of our Savior we bow!
