My days and nights were arid and dry
I couldn't quench my intolerable thirst,
It just grew greater and I didn't know why
With everything I tried it got worse.
Everything I touched turned to dust
I didn't know where I should look,
There was nothing I could trust
Then someone gave me the book.
A book that told of rivers of living water
Flowing from the hearts of those who believe,
Were these words true, did they really matter
If I accepted them could I begin to truly live?
As I let the words in, I made a discovery
The dry emptiness began to be nourished,
I was on the road to recovey
My soul slowly began to flourish.
The watering of my soul was a priceless gift
Given by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross,
The rivers of living water is from the Holy Spirit
It brought me out of the desert where I was lost.
If you find yourself where it's dry and arid
Pick up that book that tells of those springs,
If you believe you will be watered and fed
And know the gift that belief brings.
