It hurts when you don't even see me,
When I try to conform to your ways.
You only see me when I'm needy,
But then you just ignore me.
You treat me like I don't belong.
Not in your crowd unless I'm strong.
I become just another jewel in your crown,
Another victory to ignore.
You let me in just so far then slam the door.
It hurts out here where you left me,
It's lonely and scary.
But I guess this is the ultimate test.
This is where I either ask God for help or drown.
This is where I soothe my own wounds,
And start all over again,
To try not to impress others but trust God.
It's not easy when you don't know how,
But if it's now or never, I choose now.
