I don't know if this is considered a poem, but it is a praise . Psalm is my favorite book of the Bible and I find often my writings are psalms to God.
His Hand is Stretched Out Still
Through the pain, the hurt & the shame,
His hand is stretched out still.
When the flood waters come,
His hand is stretched out still.
When death & fear surround us,
His hand is stretched out still.
When life knocks us to the ground,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we are weary and can’t go on,
His hand is stretched out still.
When all we had is lost,
His hand is stretched out still.
When hope is gone and faith is weak,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we need comfort, we need strength,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we are filled with anger,
His hand is stretched out still.
When jealousy and pride fill us,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we turn our back on God,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we bury those we love,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we question why,
His hand is stretched out still.
In the darkest hours,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we need forgiveness,
His hand is stretched out still.
When we need more faith,
His hand is stretched out still.
Through all the scenes from Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Rita, this thought kept coming to me.
So many are crying out “Why God”? In my spirit I heard, “My hand is stretched out still”. It could have been much worse, though, those who have lost loved ones, their homes, their jobs, their cars, may think it couldn’t be much worse, But God, at the very last minute, turned the hurricanes. He slowed them down.
Look beyond the pain & the grief. See:
His hand is stretched out still!
