Darkstubbled, faceless,
coughing self-consciously,
facing the wall.
Darkmiseried,
trying to read a letter
the envelope blotting up the tabled beer.
He’s been long minutes
pondering the words
which mist his sunken eyes.
The letter is not long;
he has not turned a page.
His head turns after every line
looking for someone,
something,
somecomfort.
He is begging to be touched
but all the hands in here are clawed, dangerous,
and trapped within their lonely glasses
begging like him
to be touched.
