IS FAITH THE REQUIREMENT?
"Without faith it is impossible to please GOD." ~Hebrews 11:6~NKJV
I remember reading Deuteronomy awhile back and just being brought to tears over the fact that Moses could not enter the promised land. As I searched to find out why I discovered it was because of unbelief! I find this extrememly distressing.
My faith is not great! I lament over the fact that there are things God cannot do because of my lack of faith or unbelief. It's not that I disbelieve God is who HE says HE is. Neither do I doubt HE can or will do what HE said HE will do! God can do anything that is the bottom line but when we dabble in doubt and unbelief I think we somehow limit HIM. I must say I do not fully understand this but it is true. I think of James who says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. A double minded man cannot obtain anything from God.
So there it is, it breaks my heart, I must say because as hard as I try I cannot muster up enough faith to move the hand of God. But when I remember that God is merciful and that He causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust. When I think about the fact that God is absolutely sovereign; somehow I know it will all work out. Whether it means that HE brings us to the place of faith OR He does it inspite of us...I DO NOT KNOW. I may never know this side of heaven.
In terms of things I know that God's will ... will be done. He will finish the work He started in us and He has given each of us a measure of faith. I think it takes a great deal of faith (which comes from God) to come to HIM in prayer and believe that HE actually is listening to us and that HE really does care about us. That must be where it all starts as we grow in our confidence of HIM...we find that HE is trustworthy and faithful.
