“Warrior, Master,
I know You.
I know Your voice.
You spoke,
‘Your leader, My servant is gone’”
“All the promises,
All the commands,
Those were Your Words.
They are all Your Words,
continually in my mouth,
planted in my heart.”
“I remembered Your hand,
as I stood by those stones.
I remembered Your Heart,
recalling my own stones on river’s bottom.
I remembered Your heeding,
at the sound of the young ones’ questions.
I had believed we were ready…
…then I saw the other rocks.
Sharp rocks, cutting rocks.
I remembered.”
“We hadn’t believed. We trusted fear.
My heart melted.
We turned our longings back toward captivity.
My heart melted.
We clamored for a new captain.
My heart melted
At every son’s birth, every eighth day,
We spat in Your face.
‘We do not believe.’ ‘We will not obey.’
Our hearts melted.”
“By Your Graceful Hand,
You rolled that shame away.
We signed, again, Your Holy Trust,
with our blood.
Our hearts returned.”
“You led us. You fed us.
You strengthened us
to feed ourselves from Your supply.”
“You are the Captain.
You are not the Captain we wanted.
You are the Captain we need.
You are not our Captain
You are not their Captain
You are Heaven’s Captain
You are Adonai.
‘We believe.
We will obey.
We are now ready.’”
“Be still, ‘One Saved by Jehovah…and know.
You are now of My House.
You are now of My Sanctuary.
My House is called, ‘Set Apart’.
Slip off your sandals.
I alone can know and meet your needs.
