Sharing the Holiday Spirit
As I am bombarded with all the Holiday commercials, my thoughts are lead to the significance of the meaning behind Christmas, what it stands for and why we celebrate it to begin with – has society as a whole , completely forgotten what it's all about?
I begin to stroll down memory lane when I was a child and all that my parents had instilled me, and then I begin to compare the two, which leads me on a mission to put our society to a test. Is this a test of our morals, principals, values, and a part of our character? Sure it is, it is a test of our humanity.
I devise my plan and carefully set it in place – I am off to the races, off to intermingle with all the Holiday shoppers, and to greet everyone I come across, taking note, of course of the reaction and response.
I'm completely outfitted in holiday cheer, Santa hat and all, a delightful mindset and I'm good to go.
I begin to greet the fellow shoppers, employees, all that I came across, making direct eye contact with them I would say; "Merry Christmas and May God Bless You!" Sounded great to me, and getting to the basis behind Christmas with one kind a simple gesture, at least I thought it was.
I was astounded at the reaction received from society, it was of offense, How could I say something with such good intentions, not to mention a heartfelt expression and receive such a horrific response? If I only said "Merry Christmas", I would generally receive it back, however when I added, " and May God Bless You", that's when things got ugly.
If I say nothing else – let me say this, "People we are in trouble", The true meaning behind Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, remember, the Son of God our Father, not just some of us – the entire human existence. And I can't say "May God Bless You", without offending people.
What are we thinking? Where has humanity gone? Have we become so commercial that we cannot find it in our hearts to humble ourselves, even just a little?
In conclusion to my mission and my findings I'm deeply saddened, and scared for all of us, it appears that we have lost our morality.
Is there a solution, not really, it's a part of a fight this world has been struggling with all along, and those that maybe could make a huge difference – don't, the choose to close their eyes to it, ignore it, act as if it doesn't exist.
As for me, I will never give up, and I will continue to greet those in the exact same way this Christmas Season, "Merry Christmas and May God Bless You".
Remember where there is faith, there is hope, and where there is hope, there is believing, and believing implies action – I believe, do you?
Just something to ponder this Holiday Season.
