-The River-
Alone
Just me and the River
Roaring by as I sit near its edge
It moves and it beckons
Calling me in
But I sit and I skip
Rocks into its flowing soul
It’s warm, but I’m cold
So I walk near the bank and gaze into
Grab my pole, cast it deep
Not knowing what lies beneath
And I’m scared, scared to
Plunge its depths with my yearning soul
I tiptoe in
A few steps then, a couple more
Feel its inner warmth
But dare not venture further still
And I retreat to its safer shore
Only when
I can trust its ebb
Do I wander back again
And plunge my soul
Letting it carry me, I within
