"May you respond to the call of your gift
And find the courage to follow the path."
~John O’Donouhue
It inspired me to write this poem
Here is this thing, this passion
That lies within you.
At first there is a tug
Oh so gently
And you brush it away
It is such a small thing.
But there lies a hole,
An uneasiness.
You cannot yet put your finger
Upon the whisper;
Not yet a strong voice
But still it beckons
Like some light in the distance.
You yearn but stand immobile.
It, as yet, will not be denied
And it calls to you.
This gift that you alone possess
And it fair begs you
To reveal it to the world.
It is such a precious part of you
That to be denied,
Diminishes the soul,
The character, the essence
Of who you are.
Ah, but when you hear the call,
Embrace it,
For in the call of your gift,
You learn to truly live.
