WISDOM OF A SPIDER
The spider ambled over to the mirror and peered at himself. Withering legs, fading color and a crumbling web were reminders he was getting old. His allotted time on earth would soon be over. Unlike the humans around him, the spider looked forward to death. Death would be a release from the weights of life, such as the constant and ever present danger of being assaulted by life and the never ending search for food.
Would life have been better if he had been born human, the spider wondered. At least because he was a spider no one would ever attempt to make him god and demand more than he would give. He had often listened with dismay as humans voiced their hatred of him as they questioned the why of his existence. The spider thought: humans would be shocked if they discovered he often questioned the why of their existenceâ€.
The humans he encountered often voiced their dissatisfaction with their existence. One had killed himself. A spider would never do that. If only he could communicate with humans. He would ask them “what are your life goals. The spider concluded†It was better to be a spider than a human.†Humans often expected to live a life of luxury without putting forth the effort to survive.
