It’s time to announce the FOUR cash winners from hundreds of entries in this past quarter of FaithWriters Writing Challenge.  Beginning this year, the highest scoring entry in EACH LEVEL over the entire ten-week quarter will receive a $50 cash prize.

This past quarter was the onomat0poeia quarter, with topics from splash to hum to whine. The entries across the board were wonderful and inspiring – but there can only be one winner (in each level, anyway!)

And now, without further ado, our level champions for the second quarter of 2013 – as well as their thoughts:

Level 1 – Beginners The Long Way Home by Pamela Reed (Drip Challenge)

I am SO excited about being chosen for the quarterly award!  This is a big step for me in my dream to become a Godly published writer.  I give Him all the praise.  One note about my article is that Wes went to be with the Lord on Memorial Day.  That’s my point — he went to be with the Lord!  He was 100 years, 1 month, and 13 days old when he passed on.  He accepted Christ at the age of 99 1/2 years.  God is good and we love Him. – Pamela Reed

Level 2 – Intermediate  Welcome to the Amazon by Jessica Jenkins (Splash Challenge)

Wow!  This is so exciting!  I had so much fun writing “Welcome to the Amazon.”  My dream is to write stories that show that Christians are not boring people who never have fun.  Serving God can be fun and exciting and anyone can do it!  – Jessica Jenkins

Level 3 – Advanced  Hey Lady, Your Dress is on Fire! By Lori Dixon (Splash Challenge)

So amazed and blessed. I wrote ‘Hey Lady Your Dress is on Fire’ from the heart; it was urgent and personal. It has since been published quite a few times. The writing challenge is more than a contest or prompt, it’s a great ministry tool that the Lord can use. – Lori Dixon

Level 4 – Masters  Droplets to the Four Winds by Tracy Nunes (Splash Challenge)

Okay, I guess this is where I should really say something profound, but for the life of me I can’t think of anything but….”What?!”
Seriously though, there is nothing I know that speaks 1 Corinthians 1:27 more than me winning this. “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”

I mean it when I say that this could have only been done by a gracious God who chooses to show Himself through weak things.  And, that particular piece is a lesson I need to relearn every day.  It’s fiction, but it was inspired by my grandson playing in a puddle with utter glee.  When he gets older it will be such fun to tell him the story and how he inspired it.-  Tracy Nunes

The FaithWriters Writing Challenge is currently on a break until July 11, when a new quarter of challenge topics will begin! And don’t forget to check the blog a week from today, when we’ll be announcing the FaithWriters Challenge Best of the Best!

Congratulations, Pamela, Jessica, Lori, and Tracy!
