Growing in our craft

One of the main reasons to attend writing conferences is the teaching. Yesterday’s blog post covered the schedule for the FaithWriters conference this coming August. Sometime in the next few weeks, will talk about the awesome workshops that will allow us to soak up information to help us become better writers.

Of course, we all need to continue growing in our craft and honing the skill God gave us. So here’s today’s free-for-all question:

What is one area of your writing that you feel […]

It’s a Cling Thing

It’s a Cling Thing

By Brenda Kern

During a recent discussion with family members, my four-year-old nephew heard me say that I was a “strong woman.”

He perked up. “Really? Can you pick up furniture and stuff?”

It just so happened that I had lately done a lot of heavy lifting in preparation for carpet cleaning, so I confirmed that, yes, I could lift big things all by myself sometimes.

The following morning he greeted […]

Led Directly Here

For today’s Tuesday Tips and Teaching, I wanted to share this article written by FaithWriters member Seema Bagai. Seema explains why she loves FaithWriters.com and why it’s a blessing to her. She also lets us in on the benefits of upgrading to the Gold or Platinum level. Thanks to Seema for sharing her experience. While this isn’t the typical teaching article, it does provide a few good reasons to join FaithWriters, a wonderful site that teaches, encourages, and helps hone the […]

Hahahahahahahahaha!

According to HolidayInsights.com, April is National Humor month. I guess that makes sense, seeing how April 1st was the day for pranks and jokes.

Research shows that laughter is good for you. Of course, the Bible has been telling us for years (Proverbs 17)

Some of the benefits of laughter include:

*Reduces stress

*Releases negative emotions

*Helps us Relax

*Total body workout

*Strengthens our immune system

*Lowers blood pressure

*Improves respiration

They Keep Popping Up!

They Keep Popping Up!

by Cori Smelker

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”  (NIV Study Bible. 2 Corinthians 10:5. Zondervan 1985.)

I work on the internet a lot, and nothing bugs me more than those pop-up ads, or even the pop-under ads. Something new is a pop-up ad that covers a page that I’m trying to read, and […]

Do You Have a Big “But?”

DO YOU HAVE A BIG “BUT?”

Last year, I took a course taught by multi-published author, Janice Thompson. The subject was supplementing your fiction habit with income. One of the assignments was to answer twenty questions regarding our writing journey so far and our goals for the future. These questions were awesome because they forced me to really take a look at myself and my writing habits, and in what direction I believe God was leading me. One of the questions really […]
