Encouragement
Once upon a time the sun and the mist began to have a discussion, very early on a cool spring morning. The trees were just starting to break into full bloom, the threat of frost being gone. The grass was green and the lakes and rivers were full from the melting of the winter snow. The mist was very strong on this day as he had been strong early in the morning for several days. This day however the mist seemed impenetrable.
"Today is the day!" said the mist, confidently. "Do you see how thick I am? Never have I had so much substance! Just watch and see!"
"I will watch," said the sun in simple reply. "But not today or any other day."
"I am thicker than I have ever been. Did you notice the way people took to their houses to escape the dampness, the fear of being swallowed up by me? Many will stay in today and tremble!"
The mist was practically gloating and his dampness and thickness did seem to swallow the world. The sun knew, that under the mist the trees were still blooming, the grass was still green and water still wet. The sun simply smiled and waited. In the same manner that he would shine every day, he did, though today it did not seem to make a difference to the mist. Was the sun simply bouncing off the mist? Was he too thick, too damp today for the sun? The sun simply kept shining and waiting.
"Stop!" the mist shouted. "I am beginning to feel the heat. It can’t be…nothing can penetrate me! Nooooo! Your light is evaporating my dampness! Today is my day!"
The sun simply smiled and said, "No, not today or any other. Always remember this..."
