Children
How can I help my child when she feels like she has no place,
When she feels like her life is such a waste
Because her father booted her out of his life
Causing her emotional turmoil and spiritual strife?
How do I let her know that God's love will fill her heart
Where her father chose to depart?
For many years, I sought the answer because she suffered so
Having such a great desire in her heart to know
Why he walked away without giving her a second thought,
And for her peace of mind, happiness and love, he never fought
To assure that she'd be a part of the life he chose to live
Never being concerned of the substance in her life he could give
To help her be a strong and independent woman someday,
But, instead, he chose to just turn and walk away
From his responsibility of being a father
Making her feel as if she was a mistake or major bother.
As she struggled with this thorn in her side more and more,
I decided to make an effort to open the door
To allow him in to prove the love he once proclaimed
When he realized a daughter, he had gained.
As I opened the door, he took one step in
Only to turn and walk back out again.
Now, I've caused her more pain than before
And the break in her heart would need more
Care and attention because she had such great expectations
And she awaited this moment with much anticipation
Only to be broken-hearted and let down
Because the fatherly love she'd sought so long wasn't found
In the man that played such an important role
In making her the whole
Person she'd become and would be,
And now, once again all she had was me.
So, where do I go now and what do I do
To let her know that my love alone is so dedicated and true?
I sought again for the answer only to find
That it had been there all of the time.
Nobody can love her and do her like Jesus can,
And He's been there awaiting her to take His hand
And allow Him to be the father she felt she never had,
And to erase the pain that her father inflicted to make her so sad.
He eased the pain and washed away her tears,
And promised to always be there as the years
Passed and as she grew into the child He desired her to be.
Jesus was the one to set her free
From the pain, misery and strife
That her father had caused in her life.
So, if you have an absent father or mother,
You'll find completeness in God that no other
Can fill or complete,
And He promises that every one of your needs, He'll surely meet.
