Encouragement
Hebrews 12:2
Mark 8:22-25
The essence of this message is that we need to look at Jesus through new eyes. This man that had been brought to Jesus was blind. Those who brought him begged Jesus to touch him so that he too could see like them. After all, this Jesus had been on record as having said that He was come so that the blind could receive sight. He had no option but to respond to the cry of the people who had brought this man to Him. Jesus took him outside the village Jesus had to perform a miracle. There was something that the Savior needed to do, an eye transplant. He had to do it at a place where there were no undoubting people and where He could inspect the results accurately and without disturbance. The miracle that took place that day left the man with a new vision.
He no longer had to see men as trees but clearly. What is our sight based on? What are we seeing concerning God’s plans for our lives? He is the One who desires us to see His will and see it clearly. Like Bartimaeus why not desire to see? The operation on the eyes of this man caused him to discover a new perspective to life. His initial perspective was that men walked like trees. But is that what Jesus wanted of him? We see that it was not because Jesus opened the man’s eyes so that he could see everything clearly. We need not be defocused in the things we see about our God destined end but we have to see it as He sees it.
Secondly we realize that Jesus told the man not to go to the village or to tell anyone about the incident. There are times when you need not return to the village where your blindness was a feature. This man was closed up and his sight was gone but Jesus had to take him out of the environment of darkness and lead him out by paths he had not known or trodden on. We need to get out of the familiar set up to receive our eye transplant. Visionaries are like eagles that fly at greater heights. We need not be ordinary like chickens which fly when cornered but be like eagles that soar on the horizons. We need to understand that village/town life will kill us if we stay there too long.
Like the encouragement of Hebrews chapter 12, we need to see Jesus seated on the throne and to see Him clearly. If He authors our sight, allow Him to finish it. It is His responsibility to open our eyes to His will and plan. We need to tell Him that we see trees that are walking about as man. Be like the blind man who said, “I want to see men not trees.” Begin to see in the Spirit with clarity. See angels and the visions Jesus talked about and allow them to come to pass in His time. This is the dispensation for prophetic visions from Jesus.
At times we forget the first touch and as such we need the second one. Let us quit being like Peter who looked aside and started to sink, or like the servant of Elisha who saw the army of men and failed to recognize the army of God surrounding them. Its about time the Elisha in our lives called out, “LORD, open his eyes that he can see.” We need to be like Stephen who looked heavenward and saw Jesus standing at the right Hand of God. Have the eyesight of Joshua and Caleb who saw the ability in themselves rather than the 10 spies who saw themselves as grasshoppers in the sight of “giants.”
We need to understand God’s plan and will and see it with new eyes. Take a good look and see that the fields are ripe for harvest. Take a good look and see yourself in God’s Eyes. You too need to come to Jesus and cry out, “Open my eyes I want to see fresh perspectives of the Author and Finisher.” Your prayer must be three pronged:
• Open my eyes, anoint them with Holy Saliva/Holy Spirit
• I need another touch, I cant see clearly
• Lord show me Your will in my life in a fresh and new perspective.
