Poetry
The wicked take council together, Father,
with hopes to take life away
but in these times of trouble, You, O Lord,
are our hiding place.
They do not know the secret place of Your presence
where great is Your goodness for those who fear You.
We who trust in You ignore the noise of the haughty
as we rejoice in You for the wicked find many sorrows
and their pain increases as they work evil.
They look to their own strength for deliverance.
Their soul does not wait for the Lord,
No, they take matters into their own hands,
Yes, with dirty hands they turn to witchcraft and sorceries,
laying nets in secret through spells,
that they may catch us when our foot slips
that they may say, "AHA! We have seen for ourselves!
No one will help them!"
Yes, Father, their hope is a vain thing,
claiming to be wise when in fact they have no knowledge.
Mighty people aren't delivered by great strength
they look to and wait for the Lord who delivers from every fear.
Their faces are not ashamed and they radiate
as fierce witnesses rise up to reward evil for good
The Lord is far above them and with His right hand
they are crushed forever to rise no more.
Their name is forgotten like wind that once blew,
gone now and forever
for the Lord makes their path dark and slippery,
and their molded images are delusion and chaos
bringing their works to nothing.
Hear us in the darkness, Father, in You our soul delights.
We proclaim your lovingkindnes through the night watches
You will hold our hand, Yes, He who hears in the secret place
guards under the shadow of His wing
lifting up our praises to our Lord, our God, our King
Jesus Christ
May your spirit protect the faithful scattered amongst the nations
and judge in truth those who seek out injustice.
May all who take up charities or collect monies in Your name
for their own wealth and benefit, and have nothing to do with You
overturn them like a table that cannot stand anymore.
Bring them low and lift up the lives of the faithful
bring forth justice for the sake of truth.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise,
and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen,
and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
that no flesh should glory in His presence" (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
May it and let it be,
I ask this in Jesus' name,
AMEN!
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, who is, and who is to come
