Prayer for Spiritual Empowering
Ephesians 3:14-15 When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. (NLT)
Think of how much infinite wisdom that our God has. Think about the depth of God’s awesome plan. It is astounding. Human minds simply cannot comprehend the ways of God, for His thoughts and ways are so much greater than that of ours. God knows the very intent of our hearts. God knows our every thought. God knows each of our needs. God knows all of our past, present, and future. The Bible tells us that He even knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
Our wonderful God created the heavens, the planets, the stars, mountains, oceans, animals, plants, male and female. He created everything. Not just one of them but ALL things were created by God. Genesis chapter one tells us that God simply spoke the sky, land, plants, oceans, sun, the moon, stars, fish, and animals in to existence. Think about this, He said, “Let there be light” and there was light. God said, “Let the earth bring forth every kind of animal…” and so it was. God said, “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”…so God created man in His own image both male and female. Show me another “God” with that kind of power. Allah? Buddha? I don’t think so! What about the Moon Gods or the Sun Gods worshipped by some? Not hardly! There is only ONE TRUE GOD.
Psalm 93:2 Your throne, O Lord, has been established from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. (NLT)
Psalms 33:6-9, The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He gave the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. Let everyone in the world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command. (NLT)
In verse 14-15 Paul, the writer of Ephesians, falls to his knees in reverence and awe at the wisdom, and power of the most High God. He prays for spiritual empowering for the Christian. He is writing directly to the church at Ephesus but is pertinent to today’s Christians as well. He is praying for the Christian to understand their worth, for them to grow in wisdom, for them to better understand God’s love, to know that they are chosen and saved by God’s son, and to always give God the glory.
“The Prayer”
Ephesians 3:16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. (NLT)
Paul is praying for the Christian to be given strength to endure every situation in life. As Christians, we have the Spirit of God dwelling inside of us, helping us to endure, persevere, and weather the storms. The Spirit of God will help in times of trouble.
Acts 1:8 But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere… (NLT)
John 14:16-17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.(NLT)
Romans 8:26-27 The Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groaning that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.(NLT)
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.(NKJV)
Colossians 1:11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy.(NLT)
Ephesians3:17 And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. (NLT)
In this verse Paul is praying for a closer relationship between the Christian and Christ. The closer the relationship, the more you learn to trust. Who is more trust worthy than the Creator? Who can be trusted more than the God who does not lie? Paul is also praying for us to be rooted and grounded in God. Not to be wavering in our faith. Not to run when the going gets tough, but to be steadfast, with a solid foundation built on the “Rock”, our Lord and Savior.
Galatians 2:20 I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.(NLT)
Colossians 2:7 Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done. (NLT)
Ephesians 3:18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. (NLT)
This part of the prayer is asking for the Christian to grow in wisdom and to know just how much the Father truly loves His children. His love is unconditional and everlasting.
1 John 4:9-10 God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. (NLT)
1 John 3:1 See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children, and we really are! But the people who belong to the world don’t know God, so they don’t understand that we are his children. (NLT)
Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)
Ephesians 3:19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.(NLT)
Paul is praying for the blessings of love, fullness of life, and the power that only God can give.
2 Peter 1:2 May God bless you with his special favor and wonderful peace as you come to know Jesus, our God and Lord, better and better. (NLT)
Philippians 1:9-11 I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until Christ returns. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation-those good things that are produced in your life by Jesus Christ-for this will bring much glory and praise to God. (NLT)
Hebrews 13:20-21 And now, may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, all that is pleasing to him… (NLT)
Ephesians 3:20 Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. (NLT)
Paul is giving God the glory and honor for he knows God hears and answers prayers. Praise be to God, that through him, all things are possible. God can do more in one second than we could accomplish in a lifetime.
Hebrews 13:15 With Jesus’ help, let us continually offer our sacrifice of
praise to God by proclaiming the glory of his name. (NLT)
Jude verse 24-25 And now, all glory to God, who is able to keep you from stumbling, and who will bring you into his glorious presence innocent of sin and with great joy. All glory to him, who alone is God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Yes, glory, majesty, power, and authority belong to him, in the beginning, now, and forevermore. Amen.
(NLT)
Ephesians 3:21 May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen. (NLT)
Again, acknowledging that all the Glory belongs to God.
