Leadership
Conquering the Ahab Spirit
When my son turned eighteen, I knew there would be a time when he had to move out on his own and into his own apartment. My only advice to him, was make sure you have something of your own. Make sure if you decided to live with someone, your name is on the lease. Don't just put your clothes in a duffel bag or knapsack. You are starting a new life, and you have to be the man of your own household, and not just be in someone else household.
To many people, that might be strange advice. But I don't think it is. We live in world where men aren't allowed to be men. Women have placed everything at their feet. But the roots are far more deeper and disturbing than you could imagine. It is a strong dominating spirit, which obtains it roots from Jezebel. Lets take a look at the scripture. “Ahab said to Naboth let me have your vineyard to use as a vegetable garden, since it is close to my place..” (I Kings 21:2, King James NIV)
First of all, to talk about the Ahab Spirit we must talk about the Spirit of Jezebel. It is very dominating. If the man pouts and complains about something not going as planned. She does the work for him, and wonders why he won't change in to the man he is meant to be. I have witnessed women work two jobs and lavish their men just to keep him. This doesn't last long. It gets tiring and frustrating after awhile. All other emotions arises, such as resentment. Every time she sees him on the couch while she is working, there is anger and hostility. And she begins to wish for something better. And sooner or later she finds it through other men or partners. She forgets what is Holy and begins to make unholy alliances with the devil.
Second, the Spirit of Ahab likes everything to be convenient. They don't want to work or struggle for anything. They become too comfortable with the dominating woman, and her ways. They realize it doesn't take any effort on their part to please her. She will do anything to be with him and keep him. They want the partner to supply the income. Pay all of the bills, and take care of the household while they don't do anything.
Third, neither of those Spirits care about the spirit of God. We see men and women in our churches in leadership who exhibit these characteristics but we pretend they don't exist. They began close with those in leadership while terrorizing everyone else. But no one realize the root of this spirit. They make excuses and say this is their personality, but God wants better for their men and women.
Jezebel was a Queen who use her power to destroy a entire nation. She also used witchcraft to enslave a nation, and all of those who followed her were afraid. She employed the things God chose as sacred to make her point. She had the nation fast on the purpose and pretense so that she could kill an innocent man. All because someone didn't want to sell their inheritance from God. She even had one of the greatest Prophets of all times in hiding. The Spirit Jezebel is selfish and will not submit to the will of God.
Neither will those who she enslaves.
