Song Lyrics
Lord, be my fortress and my shelter
Hide me ‘neath the safety of your wing
My strong tower, and my deliverer
You alone are king
Rescue me
For I am weak and lowly
Rescue me
And you alone are holy
Rescue me
For you alone are able,
I alone, unstable,
You’re the mighty warrior, rescue me.

That said, there is value for a songwriter to look at their lyrics on paper. It's difficult to separate yourself from the melody and the rhythm, because there are in your head, but reciting lyrics can help you tweak the rhythms.
Many years ago, someone I knew got on stage at a coffee house and because he wasn't a poet (but wanted to perform,) he recited the lyrics to some of my songs. I was in the audience, so it took some courage for him to do it. His readings gave me a different perspective to the lyrics of my songs.
Keep writing, Laraine, and live with your songs. I'm still changing the last song that I wrote, which was supposedly "finished" a month ago. Writing songs, and writing literature are that way. It's good to live with them, step away from them, come back and let the Lord help you find the rhythm, and perfect the message that he has given to you.
