1) A proud look
Bible declares that, “God resists proud but gives grace to the humble.” God Almighty from the very beginning dislikes “Proud”- For it was the Proud of the archangel Lucifer that made him to exalt and glorify himself above the God which resulted into rebellion against the Lord Almighty and make him loose his position from God’s sight and so was he thrown out of heavenly realm as an act of righteous judgment and know he, along with his other angels awaits to go to there final destination “Hell”. God warns us every now and then from His Word about the dire consequences a proudly person has to face, with an extreme punishment of eternal separation from God Almighty. It was the pride of King Nebuchadnezzar that lead to his downfall and lost his Kingship and was driven away from human society and lived with wild animals, fed on grass like oxen- revealing the insanity that King Nebuchadnezzar had to go through because of his pride, self-exaltation and self-glorification before the Lord God of Heaven and Earth.
God abhors the proud because Proud brings rebellion and rebellion in turn brings self-exaltation and glorification that ultimately leads to separation from God. Remember Bible declares, “Before destruction the heart of a person is proud, but humility comes before honor"
2) A lying tongue
Bible notes that he tongue is a small part of the body, yet it has great pretensions. Think how small a flame sets a huge forest ablaze. And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence – and is set on fire by hell. Man is able to tame and has tamed all other creatures- wild animals and birds, reptiles and fish. But no one has ever been able to tame the tongue. It is evil and uncontrollable, full of deadly poison. We use it to give thanks to our Lord & Father and also to curse our fellow man, who is created in the likeness of God.
Bible declares that, “Ye shall not lie to one another.” – For Lying is forbidden by God, it’s hateful to God, an abomination to God, a hindrance to prayer, It’s a tool of wicked to destroy an individual’s character, leads to deception, hatred, impure conversations, disrupts peace, distorts the truth and perverse justice and causes dissensions.
Bible notes that “Making a fortune by a lying tongue is like a vapor driven back and forth; they seek death.” It was the lying tongue of Judas Iscariot, which motivated him to make fortune by lying falsely in context to Christ Jesus, and made Judas Iscariot to betray His Master and Lord- the one who loved him with intense love. It was the 30 pieces of shekels that he earned through the lying tongue, which was traded for the innocent blood of Christ Jesus; but Judas was not able to enjoy the blood money rather it drove away from him like vapor and he killed himself making the words of the Bible come true which says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit.”
3) Hands that shed innocent blood
Lord has commanded, “Thou shall not kill.” For Lord abhors the innocent bloodshed for people are made in the image of God. Even David being a man of blood (in war mostly) was not permitted to build the Temple (1 Chr 22:8). But shedding innocent blood was a greater crime – it usually went with positions of power, such as King Manasseh filling the streets with blood (2 Kgs 21:16), or princes doing it for gain (Ezek 22:27). Some of the examples of the innocent blood shed:- Cain killed Abel: (Gen. 4:5-16); Ahab and Jezebel killed Naboth: (1 Kings 21:1-24); 3. David killed Urriah:(2 Samuel 11:14-21); Saul of Tarsus killed Christians: (Acts 8:1a;9:1-2). These all shed innocent blood, and there are many others in Scripture who is guilty. Examples we can see in our day.:-Unborn babies - since 1973 multi-millions slain in their mother’s womb; Parents abusing and killing their small children; Husband and wives killing their innocent spouses - much of the time for money from insurance;Governments killing christians - just because they do not approve of the “Love” of Jesus.
The most innocent of blood was shed on the cross: It was the worst of man that shed this most innocent of blood., It was the best of God that shed this most innocent of blood for the forgiveness for all sin at the cross of Jesus - even for hands that shed innocent blood.
4) A heart that devises wicked plans
The heart represents the will; here it plots evil schemes. The heart is capable of evil schemes (Gen 6:5); the heart that does this is deceitful (Prov 12:20; 14:22). Bible declares to us the “Heart is the Wicked of all” and out of the heart flows the evil schemes says Christ Jesus; Schemes and evil ideas of doing immoral things, to rob, kill, commit adultery, be greedy, and do all sorts of evil things; deceit, indecency, jealousy, pride, anger, slander, and folly- all these evil things come from inside a person and make him unclean.
It was the evil desire of Cain that led him to kill his own brother Abel; it was the evil desire of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah that led to its destruction by the Lord; it was the evil desire of Haman’s heart that led him to make wicked plan to destroy the Jews; it was the evil desire of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel that lead them to covet, kill and take Naboth’s vineyard through un-lawful manner; it was the evil desire of King Nebuchadnezzar’s supervisors and satraps, which lead them to conspire maliciously against Daniel; it was the evil desire of False Prophets that made them speak lies and proclaim peace, prosperity and protection to the people of Israel while the Lord had spoken vice-versa through His anointed Prophets, the list may go on and on but in all of the above mentioned biblical examples we mark that Lord hated those whose heart devised wicked plans and the Lord Judged and Destroyed all of those who constantly plans out wicked plans in their hearts.
5)Feet that are swift to run to evil
The word “feet” is here a synecdoche, a part for the whole. Being the instruments of movement, they represent the swift and eager actions of the whole person to do some harm. It was the feet’s of the Pharisees and Sadducees that were always ready to do harm and plot evil against the righteous acts and teachings of Chris Jesus- For Christ’s teaching and his acts revealed and exposed the un-lawful and un-righteous teachings of them. It was the greed that motivated feet’s of Geahzi to do evil in the sight of the Lord and his master Elisha, ultimately bringing ruin in his physical and spiritual life. It was the love of money that moved the feet’s of Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus Christ and bring a reproach and dreadful end to his own life.
6)A false witness who pours out lies
The Lord hates perjury and a lying witness (e.g., Ps 40:4; Amos 2:4; Mic 1:4). This is a direct violation of the law (Exod 20). Lord has specifically said, “You must not give a false report.” For it leads to the injustice, contention and un-righteousness ruining the very life of a person or an individual, family and society at large.
7)A person who spreads discord among family members
Dissension is attributed in Proverbs to contentious people (21:9; 26:21; 25:24) who have a short fuse. A person who brings opposition breaches the dam of trust, faith and love in the lives of the beloved ones: ultimately resulting in broken relationships, families, individuals and societies. Lord hates people such as these because these kind of people are like ferocious wolves whose intentions are nothing but to watch other people suffer and they gain joy and fun out of it. Today the church is suffering a lot because of the people who have secretly slipped in with their hidden agendas of divide and rule policy.
These are the seven things the Lord hates. To discover what the Lord desires, one need only list the opposites: humility, truthful speech, preservation of life, pure thoughts, eagerness to do good, honest witnesses, and peaceful harmony. In the NT the Beatitudes present the positive opposites (Matt 5). It has seven blessed things to match these seven hated things; moreover, the first contrasts with the first here (“poor in spirit” of 5:5 with “haughty eyes”), and the seventh (“peacemakers” of 5:7) contrasts with the seventh here (“sows dissension”).
May God bless us to remain away from the above mentioned seven things that are abominable in the sight of the Lord; May He keep us, guide us and protect us from the things that he hates the most Pride, lies, innocent blood shed, wicked plans, run to do evil, false witness and spreading the discord.
