You cannot walk through Hell without being singed…
My son said that the other night. He’s 16. He’s gone through stuff in his life that no kid really should have to go through… Doesn’t mean they don’t, doesn’t mean other kids don’t have it worse in some way, it just means they shouldn’t have to…
I understand him, I’m going through some of that fire with him, and in doing so, through my own fire..
I could enumerate this stuff – but I won’t. The specifics aren’t important, we all have our own furnaces to go through.
The thing is – you think of Daniel and the lion’s den – and according to the story there is that neither Daniel, nor Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, even smelled of smoke when they came out of the fiery furnace.
It seems to be different these days. I know that God is with us when we go through the furnace of our trials, but as my son said, the furnace does leave its mark.
I know there are many stories about how we are tested by fire, and purified by fire, but right now, the flames are hot, our throats are parched, and our hair is singed.
And we are thirsty.
