Gospel
Let your loins be girded
and your lamps burning,
and be like men who are waiting
for their master to come home
from the marriage feast,
so that they may open to him
at once when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds awake
when he comes....
[Luke 12:35-37]

"Lord?"
"What is it, child?"
"I just had some leftover
turkey stuff; thank You!"
[NOD.]
"Right now, I'm chomping
on some pumpkin pie crust."
[SOLEMN NOD.]
"Anyhow, Lord, I've been
reading some more of that
Left Over book."
"Yes, My precious?"
"Frankly, Lord, I don't
what to think."
"Concerning what, child."
"Wait a minute, Lord;
let me have another bite of pie.
(silence)
There; well, I don't understand, Lord.
In this book, the leftover folks don't
SEEM bad. How come they got
LEFT?"
"Read My Word, child."
"Okay, Lord.
If he comes in the second watch,
or in the third, and finds them so,
blessed are those servants!
But know this,
that if the householder had known
at what hour the thief was coming,
he would not have left his house.
You also must be ready;
for the Son of man is coming
at an unexpected hour.
[Luke 12:38-40]
"What's this ABOUT, Lord?"
"Tell Me, child."
"Well, I see a lot of stuff
about servants, in here."
[NOD.]
"So, even if we're NICE,
we may not be Your SERVANTS?"
[PATIENT SILENCE.]
"Servants of Christ, that is?"
"Tell Me in your own words, child."
"Eh......uh.....well, there's gotta'
be some parallel between my
leftover Thanksgiving food,
and those Left Over folks.....
what do 'Ya think it is, Lord?"
[SMILE.]
"Uh, I'm not that smart, Lord.
Uh......let's see......leftovers,
leftovers........LEFTOVERS!
(silence)
Hey, LORD!"
"What is it, Mein kinderlah?"
"I GOT IT: leftovers are GREAT,
but, there won't BE any from the
Marriage Feast of The Lamb.
That is,
You gotta' plan to be there,
the FIRST DAY, or.........
......there might not be any LEFT?"
[SMILE.]
"Hey, Lord?"
"What is it, My precious."
"Have You given any more
thought to this clothes-falling-off
business at the Rapture?
That doesn't sit well with me, Lord,
particularly, eh......if you gotta'
SIT on a cold cloud, 'Ya know what
I mean?"
[LAUGH]
"We'll see, child.
We'll see."

Who then is the faithful and
wise steward,
whom his master
will set over his household,
to give them their portion of food
at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his
master when he comes
will find so doing.
[Luke 12:41-43]
