Encouragement
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
On our weekend getaway, my husband and I decided to go for an early morning hike to the top of the mountain. The goal was to reach the signal towers for the local television channels in the country.
It was clear early on that this mountain was steep, and the hike would be a challenge for me.
As we walked the mountain, it seemed that getting to the top would take longer than usual. I enjoyed coming upon the few flat areas. This gave me the rest I needed to tackle the next hill.
Now tired from the hike, a swarm of bumblebees began to buzz around. I looked at my husband who was just ahead of me and he waved, “I see the towers.”
I proceeded to put my jacket over my head and walked past the bumblebees. It was not fun walking a trail with dozens of bumblebees swarming around you.
In just a few short minutes, we were at the top of the mountain.
This hike was something that I had to. I discovered that it was a physical challenge and a spiritual one as well. Accomplishing the hike was a goal, much like my spiritual life is.
In our spiritual life, we all have mountains to climb. During the climb, we may receive a rest from the Lord, only to catch our breath for the next hill that is facing us.
It is just like Satan to attack you before you reach your goal. He would rather discourage you and have your turn around.
What spiritual journey or mountain climb are you on? Do you struggle with the climb? It is okay to struggle, and know that the Lord is there to give you just enough of a rest to tackle the next hill.
Even though the enemy may try to send a swarm of bumblebee’s to hamper your vision and to distract you, if you have your goal and vision in your spirit, nothing can stop you.
When we reached the top of the mountain, we were safe from the bumblebees. We were in the area of the towers.
Continue your mountain climb, and see yourself accomplishing your goal and walking in victory
