This Easter
Oh I wish that you would only see
How God’s plan has come to be
Perfected long before it all began
Completed in a thirty-three year span
I am praying that you would only hear
For you my heart has cried many tears
Wanting to share with you about it all
How man came to recover from the Fall.
Through the sinful choice of the first one
Our relationship with God came undone
Now through the loving sacrifice of another
We can have it renewed with Our Father
Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son
Came to the world to be that last one
The sin of Adam He came to erase
So we can again seek God face to face
In obedience to The Father He came
To take upon Himself our sin and shame
Offering His body and His life instead
For redemption His sinless blood shed
The Word details the pain He endured
Our salvation through Him is now assured
Jesus’ body was beaten and crucified
Upon Calvary’s Cross for us He died
At Easter we celebrate this sacrifice
For our sins Jesus died to pay the price
His death is not where the plan ended
Christ rose again and to heaven ascended
His victory over sin and death won
The price paid and the plan is done
By grace our sins are now forgiven
Through faith in Jesus sitting in Heaven
Oh how I pray that you will come to Him
Drink from the Water flowing over the brim
The Living Water that will quench your thirst
And be ever freed from the sin of the first
Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings in the name of Our Lord. I pray that Our Father continues to bless you abundantly.
Easter is just around the corner and I have been focusing my thoughts upon that which we celebrate. As a child Easter to me only meant candy…lots and lots of candy. Sure there was more than just candy; there was the Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunts, picnics and parties. It is a great time of year for me. Marshmallow Puffs and chocolate bunnies what more could a kid ask for? Ok, so some of my friends couldn’t play until later because they had to go to church for something or other. I had enough candy to keep me occupied until they were done.
Now that I have grown up (hahaha…ok grown older) I must admit that I did not know Jesus then. Now I had heard about God, Jesus, and the Bible. But I never knew Jesus. I went to the occasional Vacation Bible School and some Sunday Schools (when I would let my Grandfather talk me into it). But Easter had nothing to do with Jesus to me as a child. That is something I do not wish repeated for the generation I am responsible for. I want people, especially children, to know Jesus before they meet the Easter Bunny. I want the Lord to use me in any way to share the Good News of Easter.
Being saved changed my life completely (as it needs to) and therefore my thoughts and philosophies. To look at Easter now I think “Wow!!!” Jesus did that for me. Do you hear me….for me. That is the message I get over and over while I have been praying. It is that personal for each of us. I know that He did it for my wife, my kids, my friends, my family, my neighbors, but still…Jesus died and rose again for me. We need to keep it personal and we need to share it on that same personal level.
Those that don’t know Jesus yet will not be concerned about the big picture. The flesh is a selfish being and they need to know what’s in it for me. The Spirit had lots of work in my life to bring me to a restored relationship, but it was not until it came to me in a personal manner that I was able to see the Redemption as it applied to my life. I was that sinner that Jesus came to save.
There is nothing wrong with candy on Easter, but we need to share the reason we celebrate Easter. We are fond of saying “He is the reason for the season” when it comes to Christmas, but it also applies to Easter. Christmas is about Jesus’ birth, but Easter celebrates the completion of that life of the One born.
God bless.
In Christ,
Christian
