Thankyou for the reminder that our intelligence and educational ability alone does not teach the ways of God. It is when the Spirit of the Lord imparts a deeper insight into our souls through time spent in His presence, that He can tame our will and intellectual opinions and mould our thoughts in line with His will. It is when the Word of God is worked like yeast into the dough of our own circumstances that we experience the Word come to life and gain the wisdom that we have asked for. Your article expresses well our total dependence on His revelation.
Every writing inspired by the Spirit of God, though penned through the hands of mere mortals, can be trusted to accomplish great and supernatural things throughout all generations. That is why the scriptures will ever remain relevant till eternity! My greatest joy and excitement as a christian writer comes when I have a firm assurance that I am passing across only that which the spirit of God allows to filter through my heart not my sense. Until this has been established,I have no satisfaction, it does not matter how beautiful or well-arranged the work is. We need to write with our hearts and not with our heads! God bless you Pastor. When I read Pastor Steve's post above, I recall back to a favorite proverb of mine
Chapter 4 Verse 19
The way of the wicked is like darkness; they know not on what they stumble.
Thinking further about what Pastor Steve stands for in life, I think about other passages...
John 4:19, Philippians 4:19, Genesis 4:19, Matthew 4:19, Romans 4:19, Nigerian Criminal Code 419.
You do know about that last passage very well, don't you "Pastor Steve"?????
I think that what most of us are trying to do here is simply share the ways that God has moved in our lives, share the things we are learning as we live--I think this is a blessed thing because you just never know what may strike the reader in any given article. We are mere humans, trying to point others to a loving God. I enjoy reading the wonderful ways our God works in the lives of others---when I want to study the word, I study the word. Encouragement, devotionals, inspirational poetry are great because through them, the focus is pointed straight to God. If we want to reach another, we must be able to relate to them first. Good article. Beth PS. Even things written that do not make any specific Biblical reference can have a profound impact on a person, because it's just beautiful, or because you can see yourself in it. It can spark a search that otherwise, you never would have considered.
That was a very strong and valuable message-a much needed reminder, which has made me feel exited and determined to pray for God's message, rather than just wanting to make a diluted point whilst trying to make it sound smart, or a credit to myself. Thanks alot, Sarah.
I would say that this is a wonderful exhortation to the body of Christ. When we hide in the secret place of His presence (Ps 31:20) He reveals His secrets to us. Deut. 29:29-The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. There is NO other teacher who can teach like the Lord. Blessings, Sharon
