Poetry
Don’t push me aside just yet my child,
Don’t put me back upon that shelf,
I want you to use me in your daily life,
And listen to me instead of yourself.
I promised not to forsake you,
I’ve always been there no matter where you are.
Wherever you may go each day,
You can be sure that I’m not far.
I have ask that you be faithful to me,
I’ve ask that you spread my Word.
I’ve ask that you listen when I speak to you,
But you’re not allowing my voice to be heard.
Haven’t I been there for you?
Haven’t I always pulled you through?
Don’t you realize that I love you so much,
That I died on the cross for you?
And yet you hesitate,
To go the least bit out of your way,
To spread my Word and love,
Or to even take time to pray?
Tell me just what would it take,
Tell me what I need to do.
Tell me what you need to hear,
For me to get through to you.
Then think about it my child,
I know already what you will say.
I know each word you’ll speak before you do,
I’ve known since the very first day.
But why would you make me go to that length,
To get you to listen to my plea?
I’ve worked miracles right before you,
And yet you still don’t believe in me.
Think of the times I’ve held your hand,
Think of the times you’ve survived,
Think of the blessings I’ve bestowed upon you,
You can’t say at all that you’ve been deprived.
Have you learned anything from the trials I’ve allowed?
Have they brought you closer to me?
Let me ask once again my child,
What will it take to make you see?
Tonight I ask that you pick up that Bible,
But before you do please say a prayer,
You’ll feel a tug at your heart as you read,
But that’s just me saying I care.
That’s me saying ” Thank-you my child,
For being obedient to me.”
And each time you don’t push me aside,
You’ll be amazed at what you can see.
Think of the sacrifice I’ve made for you,
And how much of a sacrifice you’ve made.
To grow my kingdom and spread my word,
Or put your heart into what you’ve prayed?
I am asking you now to be a good Christian,
Don’t forget the reason I died,
But most of all don’t give up on me child,
Please don’t try to push me aside.
I am here with you forever,
If you will just believe.
Think of eternal life in Heaven,
And all that you can receive.
But until then I ask for your help,
I want you to be part of the Plan.
Spread my word, love one another,
Make disciples across this land.
And some day, when we meet face to face
You’ll be glad my child that you tried.
To do what’s pleasing to me, not man,
And that you didn’t push me aside.
