Encouragement
'When you come to the bottom, you find God'
What a great truth, for we never really seek God when things are going good, its when we are in the pit that prayer, real prayer begins to flow, its out of brokenness and surrender that faith grows because we have no where else to turn except Christ.
It’s on dark days and even darker nights that on our knees is the most comfortable place to be, it’s when the sun goes down when life is cold and the dampness of our weak state permeates our soul we seek Christ.
Listen; God has not given up on you; the refiner (Malachi 3:3) is still working on you making you into a pure vessel. The potter is still making a new vessel pleasing to 'His' own eyes, (Jeremiah 18:4) the bridegroom preparing His bride.
‘The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good; for his mercy endures forever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord’ (Jeremiah 33:11)
Listen to the cry of a broken man,
'From the end of the earth I will cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I' (Psalm 61:2)
Listen; when you come to the end of your own resources, when you have tried everything that money and time and others can do, when you have travelled across the earth to find help and no help comes; when your heart is overwhelmed at the thought of another day another restless night, head for the rock Christ Jesus.
He is your anchor in the storm, the safe haven of rest for your soul, the shelter from the storm and a strong tower from your enemy.
His power is greater than yours, his ability to keep you beyond your greatest, his love beyond question and reproach; he is the rock of your salvation, the rock that is higher than you.
Listen to the final words of this distraught man of God David, verse 8. ‘So will I sing praise unto your name forever, that I may daily perform my vows’
Praise is not only the right thing to do it is the best way of guilt, fear, torment and sickness for praise is saying ‘thank you Lord for what you have done and are doing in my life’
So go on lift up your hands in surrender, raise your voice to heaven and give thanks with a grateful heart, the bottom of the pit has left you with a firm foundation to grow to greatness and freedom.
