The Politics of Heaven and Hell
What kind of government is the rule in the Kingdom of Heaven? It’s something perfect, nothing that has been tried or even feasible here on earth.
As Christians we do operate as a Constitutional Democratic Republic under God’s rule here on earth. God always has the final say, but does that make Him a dictator? No. We have been given the gift of choice, of free reign here on earth. Freedom requires responsibility – as Christians it is our responsibility to teach and spread that equation that comes with our ultimate freedom. Below is a profile of our Christian nation. First we must know the enemy of our country.
The Enemy – Satan and his radical, tyrannical, fascist regime. He is the true dictator. A true politician if there ever was one. He is a false leader – one who twists people’s minds with all sorts of promises, but never delivers in the end. In fact he tramples on all of our rights in the end for his own personal gain. The chief export of Satan is sin. The desired import of Satan is souls. Our country has a permanent trade embargo on Satan…though sin is still smuggled into our borders from time to time. The ultimate sanction has been placed on Satan. Sadly many souls have fallen prey to Satan’s false promises and leadership. His tactics and terror have left terrible marks on many lives. Satan’s country is that of destruction, deceit, and death.
Our Revolution – The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This was our Declaration of Independence.
Our National Symbol – The Cross.
Our Constitution – The Bible.
Our Bill of Rights – The 10 Commandments. Many in the secular world…and even Christians would look at the 10 Commandments as “rules”. At first glance they certainly are, for they are basis for our laws. But also these are rights. Ten rights to each individual under the authority of God that our freedoms shall not be infringed upon by any other individual.
The Government – Three equal branches making one: judicial, legislative, and executive. All three in one, the power of God, the Son and Holy Spirit. The amazing thing is that all of God’s laws are set into place for all time. Perfect. There is no need to change, rewrite, amend, retract, or rethink any of God’s laws. We can ponder them, we can even try to change them ourselves – but we truly can not change them in any manner. They are set. They are true and perfect.
The Nation – We are His constituents, His representatives on earth. In return we are represented by Him. We have the ability and power to make our voices heard, at all times, with any problem, issue or concern – and He hears us! We each have been given the right to vote and the right to free speech via prayer. Our ballots are cast; all are dealt with, perfectly. The promise that keeps people coming to our nation is the gift of eternal salvation. Far and wide, of all walks of life and corners of the world we are all equal under God’s law. His justice is perfect and equal to us all. He hears us equally. His laws apply to us equally. His promise is a gift, given equally to us all to receive or to reject. Now that is a true democracy at work!
The Military – Any strong country needs a strong defense. We are each soldiers in the Lord’s Army. We are armed with the ultimate weapon – the truth.
Citizenship - All nations come to an end. Not His. God’s kingdom will last forever. We are citizens of his nation if we so choose. Our requirement for passage, for citizenship in His kingdom is one test – receiving the gift of salvation.
Our Society – The gift of salvation is the guarantee, the promise that our citizenship may not be revoked, unless we revoke it ourselves. Being a citizen of His kingdom means more than carrying our citizenship card – it means living a Christian life to benefit all members of the society and to ultimately live our lives for His glory. Each citizen has a role in His society. We each have been given a plan to fulfill for His glory.
The Utopia – In the end the society that humankind has strived for and failed on earth will be fulfilled by God in Heaven. We will sit by Him under His reign as proud members of His kingdom.
