Women
All that time, just seeking the balance within soul and flesh; I struggled aimlessly. My soul conflicted with my temperament. I existed somewhere in between. There was no definition. Though desperate to find the connection, I willingly floated back and forth between wanting and needing Christ in my life and living my days with His presence and influence shelved like a book. Only when life wasn’t going according to my plans, would I, turn to Him and the Bible. I spent way too many years living my Christian life like that and in doing so I was not very happy.
At the age of fifteen, I found the Lord. Well, actually, the Lord found me. He brought such happiness and serenity to the years of my youth, but by the time I married and started raising a family, I found that I had less and less time for church, my Bible and spending time in prayer. I got bogged down in being a wife and mother. I carried the weight of it all and in doing so had very little time for the very things my soul needed. Often, I wonder, how many young Christian woman slip into that same destructive routine; knowing Him in their heart, but not living with Him truly in their life on a day to day basis.
Only now, at fifty-one, do I find myself desiring to return to the fellowship with Jesus that I had in my youth; when He was the center of my life. The most important thing was my walk with Jesus. The walk was the very thing that made my life worth living. I was filled with His love and the presence of the Holy Spirit permeated each moment. Even in times of trouble; I had complete peace; the joy unspeakable and full of glory.
Weights and balances are so important in our Christian life, but the irony comes from understanding in your heart God’s way is not the way of man. How do we, as wives and mothers, find that balance? We trust and obey; which means give all to God and let Him decide for you. In other words, put everything on His side of the scale and let it be. Of course, man will tell you doing so, is not the way to get your life in balance! Yet, God has His own way in all things. The weight is His, so the burden is light.
No decision should be made without prayer first. Believe me when I say, let Christ lead you in every aspect of your life and you will find a wave of peace pass through your soul. It will make each and everyday of living easier, even when you pass through a storm. Fear and stress will vanish because you will know that He has everything under control and He knows what is best for you.
Just weight and see.
