The Legacy of Daddy
As we celebrate our Fathers, on Father’s Day,
I am thankful for the Dad that God gave me.
His strength and his spirit, his tender love,
No finer man, in my eyes, will there ever be.
When I remember Daddy, in my minds eye;
I see his face just like he’s still here.
I hear his deep voice comforting me,
See hazel eyes full of love, so clear.
I can almost feel his big bear hugs,
And his callused hand holding tightly to mine.
How much I miss those simple little things,
Even after all this time!
But what I remember most was his great love for Jesus,
And how he taught me to love Him too.
He knew the most important thing in this life,
Is to please God in all that we do.
I recall him always with his bible in hand,
Or kneeling down in a prayer.
Troubles, were many, but his worries were few…….
He went to God to cast all his care.
He was wise beyond years, for he learned from the Master.
He knew Jesus in a personal way.
He taught me the answers to all of life’s trials,
Is to stay in God’s Word every day.
He had physical strength immeasurable,
Yet, a heart that was so tender and true.
Then one day, he was gone to see Jesus,
Just like that, right out of the blue.
I never got a chance to tell him goodbye;
Or to thank him for all he had done,
Or one last time to tell him I loved him,
Before the angels came to take him home.
After all these years when I recall,
Precious memories from so long ago.
I still shed a tear, my heart still aches,
For the Grandpa my kids have never known.
If I had but one wish for all the children of the world,
It would be a spiritual leader of their own.
To guide them and lead them along life’s road,
To teach them they are never alone.
If you have been blessed with a Godly Dad,
Or someone that has shown you the way.
Tell him you love and appreciate him,
Give thanks for him every day.
And if you are a Daddy, don’t ever forget,
Your children are learning from you.
Little ears are listening,
Little eyes are watching,
In all that you say and do.
So lead them straight
In the way of the Lord,
And you will leave a legacy, too.
Jesus, please tell Daddy Happy Father’s Day, from me………
