Encouragement
Have you ever thought about the power we have in prayer? Not casual prayer, but a deep intercession for the burden of lost loved ones. Maybe your battle is concerning problems with children or grandchild or health issues, tribulations within your church family. Sometimes this type of intercession is for someone you care deeply for who is suffering with depression, drugs, or a life carried away by sin or maybe even for unknown saints in horrible situations in a far away land across the ocean.
As an intercessor, or prayer warrior, you carry a heavy but awesome responsibility. There are times the Lord will wake you up in the middle of the night to cry out for these situations. Other times He will call you away from everyone just to spend time in His Presence in prayer. Often there is a crying that takes place without words, just as it is spoken of in Acts 8:26 & 27 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
At a women’s prayer group a short time ago the event below took place. Numerous times since then the Lord has used this picture to remind me the power of our prayers. Too often it is easy to pray one or two times and then give up when we don’t see immediate results. But the Lord desires hearts that are willing to stand in the gap and intercede for others. Maybe this is an area you feel the Lord tugging at your heart more and more. This is a place where self-serving must be laid aside. Indeed this place is one of dedication and willingness to all the Lord is calling you to. I pray if this is the case you will willingly open your heart and spirit and say “I am here, Lord, please use me.”
The Vision:
As the women were praying and interceding for various situations I began hearing in my spirit the words of the first two lines of the poem. After I finished writing the poem, I started praying in the Spirit again. Suddenly I saw a vision of the Lord standing in our midst in a beautiful white robe. He was wearing a breastplate of gold engraved with an eagle in flight with his talons extended as if he was preparing to do battle in flight.
As I watched, the Lord lifted His arms and held His sword high in both hands. He began swinging the sword in the air in a wide circle over His head, slowly at first and then increasing in speed. As the women continued praying in the Spirit, the sword began to shine and vibrate and the Lord began increasing the speed of the sword. The more intense the prayer the more it seemed to strengthen His arms. Instead of tiring with the weight of the sword, His strength began to increase and it seemed as if He began smiling almost to the point of pure joy over the sound He was hearing from His people talking to Him in their heavenly language. The sword suddenly began making powerful whistling noises as it passed through the air. The noise was beautiful almost like a heavenly song. It was a song of release and freedom. This heavenly sound was a song of deliverance.
As the prayers continued the sword began extending out over different people and situations. I saw people with strings attached being played like puppets by the enemy. Suddenly the Lord cut the strings and they began moving freely. They were amazed at the freedom they now felt and knew that the enemy could longer control them as in the past.
In other people, they were standing in an area that had them encased in strong powerful weeds, almost as if they were entangled in vines that had a choke hold on them. As the Lord wielded the sword higher and strong in the air, He would suddenly angle the sword in such a manner that cut the vine at the very root. The downward movement of the sword never slowed. The Lord knew the precise placement of the root and cut it totally off in one swift movement never touching the victim of the vine. Instantly the vine disintegrated around each person as the Lord cut it. They were freed and stood in amazement at what the Lord had accomplished in their life.
