Romans 12:21
When someone does something bad to you do not do something bad to them but repay them with goodness.
Peter wanted to talk to his sister before she could go and tell mom what he had
done. She was like that, always ratting him out. It was because she went to
church and they kept telling her in Sunday school about this and that being sin.
So now every time Peter did something wrong his sister ran to mom and dad and told them all about his latest sin.
”After all” Peter thought, “I am not that bad”, “sure every once in a while I get into
trouble but nothing major”. Well Peter said to himself “there was that one time I
stole that pack of gum but surely nobody could hold that against me?” “It
was only that one time”
Shaking his head at the thought that he might not be so good after all, Peter ran off, looking for his sister. They had gone to old Mister Filberts yard to play.
Sarah, Peter’s sister didn’t want to go but Peter talked her into it, now she was
the one who could get Peter in trouble.
Peter knew that old Mister Filbert had not seen them in his yard so he did not
know who had broken the window in his shed. After all he deserved it, not allowing Peter and his friends to play on the sidewalk in front of his house. That was the best place to set up a ramp and jump bikes.
Old Man Filbert had yelled and shaken his hand at them and told them to go to
their own yard to play. Peter and his friend did not like that the sidewalk was
public property and they should be allowed to play there. So when his friends
had left Peter snuck around to the back yard with a rock and tossed it at the
shed window. The window broke with a loud crack.
Peter stood there smiling and thinking about how he had gotten even, but when he turned to go to his dismay Peter saw his sister. She was looking at him with such a terrified look on her face because of what she had seen Peter do. Well Sarah had run away as fast as she could and Peter was left wondering what to do. He had to find her and explain to her why he broke that window. Maybe she would understand and not rat him out.
What should Peter do?
What would you do if you were in the same situation as Peter?
