I was recently asked, “Will God settle for just a remnant? Will the God of love and light save only a few millions? Or will His perfect plan allow mankind to spend another thousand years (or whatever it takes) to come to Him?”
This is a very good question from someone I hold in high esteem. Someone who is a wonderful fellow worker in serving God and one who, I believe, is a man after God’s own heart. Here within, followers my answer.
Another 1000 years, I don’t think so. Perhaps the people in Noah’s days were holding out for that same reason…hummm. Well, the only thing I can say for sure about the timing of His return is that God has a time set for His judgment of this earth, Satan, his demons, and all those who have rejected Jesus. Jesus said, neither He, nor man nor angels know the time of His return, but He gave us the signs of the times of His return.
We are instructed to be watchful and not caught off guard. I have studied Eschatology more than anything in the Bible for the past 24 years or so. The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know it all, but I am confident of my beliefs that this is the generation spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24.
The last 2000 years pretty much stayed the same except for the past 100 years or so. Horse and buggy, no electricity, refrigerators, no microwaves, no computers…well, you get the picture.
Yes, there have been some of these events throughout history, including natural disasters, famine, plagues, etc, but not with the intensity (birth pangs) of today, and factor in the re-gathering of Israel as a nation in May 1948 as prophesied in Ezekiel 38, the technology for the mark of the beast, the old Roman Empire coming back to power (EU and Western EU), the closeness of a one world currency, the closeness of a one world religion, the persecution of Christians all over the world, the advent of the computer and knowledge increasing exponentially, travel by plane, train, and automobile, voila…We Are In The End Times.
It is a time of rejoicing not fear or regret, unless we fail our brethren by not getting them ready to receive our King. The fact is that many will be left behind no matter what we do. God shut the door on the Ark during the Flood and it is about to be shut again on unbelievers. Yes, a loving God will do this again; one who would that none would perish but that all would have everlasting life.
God is merciful, but He is also holy and His holiness requires justice. He is not man that He should lie; there will be a judgment day and it will be proceeded by the tribulation which is preceded by His removing of His Bride (Church) from all that will happen as spelled out in His Holy Bible.
We can try to reach as many as possible with the truth or we can act like it won’t happen, but happen it will, and all that is within me tells me it is coming in my lifetime.
God will settle for a remnant, the Jews will be spared only a remnant so that God can keep His promise to His chosen people. Adam already wrecked his perfect plan. God, in His mercy, sent Jesus to redeem all those who will receive Him. Sad, but because God gave us a will, many have not and will not receive Him. More time will not dissuade man from exercising his will above God’s so how much time would be enough time?
Make no mistake, "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord," but it will be at the judgment where there is no doubt that Jesus is who He says He is. Unfortunately, it will be too late for this judgment is called the White Throne Judgment and it’s punishment is already prescribed; be thou cast into the pit of fire that is reserved for Satan and his followers. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
Below are some scriptures about the times we are discussing.
May God bless you and all who read this and may He give wisdom and knowledge about these times to all who seek it.
Blessings, Lucian
Paul spoke of the signs of the times:
2Ti 3:1-9 and 12-12, 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all [men], as theirs also was.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Signs of the End of the Age Luke 21: 5-34
5Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,
6“As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
7“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
8He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.
9When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”
10Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
12“But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
13This will result in your being witnesses to them.
14But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.
15For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.
16You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
17All men will hate you because of me.
18But not a hair of your head will perish.
19By standing firm you will gain life.
20“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.
22For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
23How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
24They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
29He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees.
30When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.
31Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
32“I tell you the truth, this generation[b] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
33Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 34“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.
35For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
36Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
