TITLE: "OVERWHELMED, CAST YOUR CARES UPON THE LORD"
SCRIPTURE: Numbers 11:14, "I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me."
In Numbers chapter 11, Moses became overwhelmed with the children of Israel's bitter complaints against him for not having enough to eat. But, really and truly, all of their grumblings were against God. Moses must have forgotten; it was God that called this magnitude of people out of Egyptian bondage and not him. Moses was God's human instrument to help get the people from one place to another. But, as one man, he felt like the burden of the people fell on him. Therefore, Moses gave an emotional plea to the Lord in Numbers 11:14 for help; saying in his cry: "I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me."
Reading this verse, I want to cry right along with Moses; I feel his heart and anguish. The Lord did not admonish Moses for feeling inadequate. He sympathized with Moses by telling him to choose seventy elders of Israel and bring them to the Tabernacle. Moses obeyed the Lord's request. The Lord communed with Moses and the seventy elders; anointing these men to bear the burden of the people with him (Numbers 11:17). We are never alone. We all have had days like Moses; in a different way. Sometimes, life can be overwhelming. However, the devil through the use of this world's system; purposely tries to frustrate people. Whispering lies as they go through life. Saying, "The Lord does not care about them."
The Lord cares! He does not want us to shoulder life (especially as ministry leaders) by ourselves. Throughout His Word, the Lord has shown us that He is our Caretaker and Burden lifter. He wants us to cast this life's burdens and cares upon His shoulders. Jesus says in Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Therefore, we can believe and trust in Jesus.
Overwhelmed? Immerse yourself in the Word of God. Let Him love on you. So, the weight of your burdens will no longer affect your peace. Seek the Lord in prayer. Letting Him know about the frustrations on your heart; He already knows. But, He wants you to express your feelings to Him.
The Lord has a divine purpose for your life. Walk in your calling! Learn His Word, Lean on His Word, Live His Word, Abide in His Word, Apply His Word, Delight in His Word, Commit to His Word, Trust in His Word, and Share His Word! Live purposefully for Jesus Christ!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I am leaning on You for Your strength and guidance today. In Jesus name Amen!
