WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: This was the question Franklin Graham asked his Facebook friends after Hawaii's terrorising nuclear scare. As alarms went off people scrambled to the nearest shelters, some went into basements, manholes and even bathrooms. They hunkered down with an all consuming fear of their incoming doom. It took the state 38 minutes to correct the false alarm. However something positive came out of this blunder --thousands thought about their priorities. Possessions and 'things' seemed to disappear in mid-air.
Surprisingly Grahams Facebook friends responded to his question "what would you do if you only had 20 minutes to live?" in an almost unanimous way and their comments went like this.
"I would fall to my knees and ask the Lord to help me through whatever was about to happen."
"Pray for God to save my soul"
"I would call on God to ask for forgivness and courage"
Some commented that they would pray for their friends to receive Christ as their Savior. It was once said that an atheist is anti-God until he takes his last breath.
Will it take a scare like Hawaii just experienced to get Americas people turned around and renew their commitment to God or is it something we can do right now and have that blessed assurance of our final destination. We live in a world that is headed towards that probabiliy that this impending doom could become a reality. Will it take tornado's, hurricains, floods and fires or maybe even a missile to get our attention? Whatever the case may be we should always find ourselves in a state of readyness. Believers, those who have put their faith in Jesus, would be confident that their lives are in His hands. During His reign as King he will bring peace on Earth once again and their will be no more war's. What is your response to the question "what would you do if you only had 20 minutes to live?
Prayer: Father God, I need not fear or be anxious as to whats to come because I know I have a heavenly home that you have prepared for all your children. This is a promise I can hold onto that will keep my mind and heart at peace. Amen
Verse: John 14:1-3 " Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I AM.
