LAS VEGAS SHOOTER
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Satan’s (Lucifer) purpose is to steal, kill and destroy and he was very busy in Las Vegas. The shooter left over 58 people dead and close to 500 hurt with plan’s to add even more casualties to his numbers. Their ages ranged from 20 to 67 and included mother’s, father’s, sons and daughters, grand parents and grand children. By the grace of God he was stopped in his tracks.
Did the innocent victims have any idea as they attended a concert that night it was going to be their last breath? As we go about our daily living do we give much thought as to our final destination if our life were to end abruptly? Where would our immortal spirits go? It has been scientifically proven that there is a spirit form that leaves the body at the time of death. Would we be relying on our church membership, our parent’s faith, tithing or good deeds to get into heaven?
God’s Word says that by grace we are saved through Christ and it has nothing to do with our good deeds that will secure our rights into Heaven. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life…the only way to heaven. It’s through His sacrifice on the cross that allows us to stand before God, forgiven and redeemed receiving the gift of eternal life in that place He has prepared for us. We should be thankful everyday for that breath of life he allows us to have and the hope of our final resting place called Heaven.
Our spirit goes on even after these earthly bodies are laid to rest and there are only two places it can go. Those 58 concert goer’s whose lives were cut short were not aware it would be their last breath on this earth. Those who were covered by the blood sacrifice of Jesus went on to their new eternal home where they will dwell with Him forever. It’s a simple matter of acknowledging we are sinners and in need of forgiveness asking Jesus to come into our hearts. We can only pray all of those 58 people who died that night are secure in the arms of the Savior and coming King. Maranatha
Prayer: Father God, what a horrific tragedy it was and we pray for all those who died and those who are recovering in the hospital. Help me to cherish each breath of life and stand firm in the knowledge that I know who I am (a child of God) and where I’m going (Heaven). Amen
Verse: Eph. 2:8-9 KJ “ For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast. “
