KINDNESS VS NICE
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Have you ever been nice to someone but not really like them? There's a difference between nice and the act of kindness. The fruit of kindness is not having a reason to help people. Charles Spurgeon once said "No man can do me truer kindness in this world than to pray for me."
Kindness can come not just by prayers but by words that encourage and uplift someone who needs hope and a purpose in life. One kind word can change someone's entire day. How often do we like to hear encouraging words from a friend, family member or teacher that inspires us to move forward with renewed hope, purpose and energy. We can be nice to someone out of respect or compulsion but do we follow through with a good deed from the heart. Jesus demonstrated mercy and kindness by asking God to forgive those who were crucifying him as he hung on the cross. When you show underserved kindness to others you are following in Jesus footsteps.
True Kindness when in action not only helps those who receive it but gives joy to the giver. We become more selfless and appreciate those insignificant things in life that bring a smile to those in need. Proverbs tells us that "kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body." Motive behind our deeds--is it just being nice or do we go the extra mile with genuine kindness?
Prayer: Father God, help me to always know the difference between kind and nice. I want to become more and more like Jesus every day. Amen
Verse: II Cor. 9:7 "Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." Eph. 4:32 " Instead, be kind to each other, tender hearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ."

Good explanation about nice just being pleasant, friendly. This, I divined from the article, I just basically a pleasantry to keep things nice. Being nice can be used in a mercenary way just to get something.
But kindness is about helping the other person, without the hope of self gain. It matches agape love.
A simple point put succinctly.
