Prophecy
When God called Jeremiah He said "I have put My words in your mouth. See today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant." (Jeremiah 1:9-10)
Jeremiah was a young boy and naturally he felt unqualified and incompetent to carry out God's calling. But in verse 17-19, God commands him -
"Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them what I command you. Do not be terrified of them or I will terrify you before them. Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land -against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. They will fight against you but will not overpower you, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the LORD."
All over the world today, there are many like Jeremiah, called to proclaim the Word of God and His Righteousness. Christian writers are like Jeremiah to whom God has said "I have put My words in your mouth".
This volatile world is drawn everyday into the vortex of falsehood, darkness, chaos and lies. Injustice abounds all around us everyday and as writers, we cannot close our eyes and pretend we do not see. We cannot run into the comfort of writing about beauty and sunshine, daisies and roses, and live our lives detached from the world around us. God will not allow us.
What does God command us to say? Psalm 11:3 says"When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do? Christian writers are first of all God's writers. We must give glory to God and proclaim what He says in His Word. God's Word is always relevant, it does not waver and never gets outdated.
In my country, writing against officials and priests is a dangerous mission. Even as a Christian writer, I am putting my life on the line when I write about the injustices and abuses of our government. I have to write about God's command against murder even when the president himself orders the murder of people without the benefit of a court trial.
Am I afraid? God said "Do not be terrified of them" and He assures me "I will be with you and I will rescue you." He called me to write and I know He is faithful to do what He said.
"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at My Word." (Isaiah 66:2)
"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." (Dietrich Boenhoffer)

This article is a good argument for Christians to write. Writers can influence society and further God's kingdom.
I see I have it easy, reading about threats by the government. I do a blog on my WordPress site. There are people who want me to sit down and shut up because I try to tell the truth and expose, mainly, wrongs against the homeless. I also call out the homeless when they are wrong. I called out a homeless guy who came to a homeless meal drunk and disorderly. He wanted to beat me up, but lucky for him we kept apart.
He knocked a guy to the ground, cutting his head. He went to jail a few months awaiting trial, and is on parole. The guy he attacked wanted him to get in house treatment for alcohol abuse. The judge thought it strange but great that the victim would do that. That didn't happen but the guy rarely goes to the meals and when he does, knows enough not to cause problems.
Great encouragement, as I just recently started writing on FaithWriters.
