“But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment of our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.” (Isaiah 53:5 HCSB)
The excruciating pain that the Lord Jesus suffered for us is far beyond our imagination. Our Loving Savior did nothing wrong. It was we who sinned. But it pleased God to transfer the punishment we deserved upon His only Son. God loved us to that extreme. We do not need to pay the penalty for our sins anymore. Jesus Christ has paid the full price. The crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ creates hope to those who desire to escape from their sinful life and join the children of God. The only thing one needs to do is to believe in the finished work of Christ.
‘Just believe?’ sounds so simple, right? But with that must come a heart of repentance. If we do not want to deny our sinfulness, faith won’t work. Just acknowledging by our heart that Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice can redeem us is not enough. We need to personally and deeply take the inner strong decision to say farewell to our sinful habits and dedicate for a new life. Without this, salvation won’t work for us personally.
To be saved or to perish depends on the person’s own decision. In the Garden of Eden, God gave two choices : Eat the fruit or don’t eat the fruit. Now, God gives us two choices: Repent or perish. I remember hearing someone saying, “To be saved and to receive eternal life, we need to repent. But to perish we just need to do nothing.” How terrible for us if we ignore this plan of God.
It is human nature to sin. So it is extremely difficult to deny sin by our own strength. Only when the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and starts working in us to lead us to repentance can we come to the personal experience of Salvation. Unless the Spirit of God intervenes in a sinner’s life, no sinner can come to Christ.
Dear reader, are you longing for true love? Are you concerned about who will give you forgiveness? Jesus Christ was tortured and crucified for you. Not only was He physically tortured but also mentally. A crown of thorns was placed on His head. Blood gushed forth as they kept hitting Him on His head. That blood cleanses all the bad thoughts that have come in our mind. After placing the crown of thorns on His head, they placed a reed in His right hand, knelt down before Him and mocked Him saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they spit at Him. They made Jesus carry the cross in midst of this terrible pain up to the mountain of Calvary. There they nailed Him to the cross. But do you know what Jesus did, or how He reacted? Luke 23:34 reads- “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.” (HCSB)
Do you think Jesus Christ cannot forgive you? He already has. But there is one thing you need to do. You must come to Jesus. ‘But where is Jesus?’ you may ask, ‘that I can go to Him?’ Jesus Christ is right there with you wherever you are in any part of the world. He is looking deep into your heart. Just pray this small prayer: “Loving Lord Jesus! I believe I am a sinner and that I need a Savior. I believe that You came down from heaven and after living for 33.5 years You died for me on the cross shedding Your blood for my sins. Wash me thoroughly with Your precious blood and make me Your child. I accept You as my personal Savior and Lord of my life. Help me to walk according to Your will. I now believe that I am now a child of God and have received redemption from sins and have received eternal life. Thank You Jesus for Your love, Amen."
If you have really prayed this prayer with doubtless faith, you are now a child of God. Welcome to God’s family. Find a local Church where believers worship the Lord in spirit and in truth and where the Word of God is taught with purity. Continue to live for Christ through pains and struggles.
