Bible Studies
Good day to all. I am excited to begin with you the study of the book of Romans. For a background to what we will discover, it is important to read my previous posts. The first ones dealt with the reliability of the Bible.
If you have trouble trusting the Scriptures as holy writing from God to us, your study will be seriously hampered. Second, I spent time talking about true saving faith, what it is and is not, so that anyone who wants to can come into a real relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Review these posts for a better understanding of what is to follow.
It has been said by many scholars that this most important book, written by Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, encapsulates like no other, the fundamentals of our Christian faith.
No matter what our backgrounds may be concerning God, Jesus, religion, church, love, it is no small thing that there is much confusion today about what life really is all about.
Does God care about me? Can He really help me? How do I relate to an invisible Sovereign? Does He even exist? Romans answers these questions and many more with wonderful clarity and passionate truth! If you choose to stay with me through this study, I promise that you will see your existence through different eyes. And if youAnd if you accept the truths to be discovered, your life will be enriched and blessed in ways you may not now imagine!
I want to identify my reference sources at the outset to give proper credit for our study information. I have listened to John MacArthur for many years and owe much of my learning to his insightful and thorough teaching. He is a true man of God. He has pastured Grace Community Church in Southern CA for many years. Check them out at www.gracechurch.org/.
I will be referencing his New Testament Commentary on Romans throughout this study. I will also use William Barclay’s popular commentary on Romans, various study Bibles, Strong’s Concordance and an English/Greek parallel Bible. When I quote either commentary, I’ll give a short reference at the end of the quote: Mac or Bar.
We'll continue tomorrow, Lord willing, by discussing Paul, the author of Romans. It would be impossible to understand the book without looking first at the man. Until then, God bless you; God is love!...Mike.
