Encouragement
“Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. " (NKJV)
I was reading some testimonies of good things God has been doing during the past few months, and my heart began to fill with joy and faith as I read. I felt so thankful as I remembered the goodness of the Lord! These were all stories I had already seen happen, and been a part of, but to read them together one after another made me come alive! An old Gospel song came flooding into my mind which goes like this: “ Look what the Lord has done , Look what the Lord has done . He healed my body, He touched my mind , He saved me just in time . I'm going to praise His name , each day is just the same , Come on and praise Him , Look what the Lord has done. ” The Holy Spirit demonstrated to me that remembering and acknowledging what God has done makes Him (and us!) so happy, and it also builds and strengthens our faith. No one would be able to deny the goodness of the Lord and His miracle working power if they spent a little time looking at things He has done. No one can deny that they are loved by God when they focus on all His acts of kindness to them.
Dear friend, there are upgrades awaiting us in the heavenly realm. There are miracles which have already been released to the sons and daughters of the Lord but (sadly) we are still waiting to see them manifested on the face of the earth. This is because we need to look at the Lord with the eyes of faith and expectation. We need to see again the numerous and wonderful things He has already done in our lives and let our hearts get filled with thanks and faith. Something that grieved the heart of God deeply during Israel's forty year sojourn in the desert was the way His people seemed to grumble about everything! The Lord had done great and mighty things for them, freeing them from slavery, protecting them from Pharaoh's forces, parting the Red Sea for them, etc; but when they had a need in their lives, they lifted up their voices and criticized the Lord who had blessed them so much, complaining about what they did not have at that moment, instead of being thankful and simply asking Him for what they needed.
Many of us may be praying for a breakthrough in some area of our lives, and the tendency may be to keep seeing what is still to be completed or what has not yet happened. Psalm 66:5 invites us today to take another look at what the Lord has already done. He has done great things for you and me. He is a good Father whose heart is filled with heavenly dreams for us. The Psalmist writes “He is awesome in His doing towards the sons of men” , and He truly is! He has saved us, and brought us into His family, and made us joint heirs with Jesus. He has filled us with His amazing and glorious Holy Spirit, and He is constantly looking to take His children to higher ground. Like any father, our Abba God only wants the best for us and to see our lives fulfilled and fruitful in every way. He is with us and for us – we are set up to win!
In Psalm 77:10-12, we read “And I said, “This is my anguish, but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. “I will remember the works of the Lord. Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds.” The psalmist was going through a difficult season of insomnia and infirmity, maybe even discouragement and depression. However, he turned his heart to the things the Lord had done, and he began to be encouraged and to see the greatness of God again. Dear friend, you may have been going through a time of discouragement and difficulty, but things are changing today. Turn your thoughts to the goodness of the Lord and how He has never failed you in the past. He is good always, and He is coming through for you this time like He did before! What you think about, focus on, and speak about is what you will begin to see coming forth in your life, so fix your eyes back on Jesus! There are fresh revelations and renewed faith flowing out from the miracles of the past. Things can only get better than they even were before, because He is calling us from glory to glory in this exciting story!
The blessed Holy Spirit is breaking off discouragement and heaviness from hearts and minds even as you receive this Word. He is calling you into another level of assurance and joy and into a new faith filled expectation. You are stepping into a season of answered prayer! As we look again at the miracles of the past, we set ourselves up to see even greater things today. Abba is the same yesterday, today and forever. His kindness knows no limits, His love endures forever! What He did yesterday, He will do to an even greater degree today. Expect your breakthrough. He has a healing in store for you, and that transformation in your family you have been longing for. Look at the good things He has done in your life, and call forth the supernatural blessing you saw in the past. There is “faith power” being released from deep inside you and the Holy Spirit Himself is coming alongside you. Things are starting to shift and the Lord Himself is guiding you!
