Romans: 5: 3&4: “3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope”.
In Psychology, there’s a word called Reliability which means “The consistency of the same scores obtained by the same individual when retested with the same test or an equal form of test”. Now, I am not going to take a psychology class on scales and measurements but the reason to why I mentioned this is because this could apply in our lives.
We all have the habit of reading the word of God and praying which is our everyday routine. The word of the Lord is the bread of life and we consume it every day which sustains us all no matter the circumstances. Also, we know His amazing promises for our various circumstances, but are we relying on His word during those times? No matter the number of times we went through the difficult situations, did we always respond in the same manner of hanging on to His promises?
Romans: 5: 3&4: “3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope”. The struggles we go through tune us to persevere, develop our character and keep our hope in God. For example, we run a race and we are all aware that we can’t run the race backwards. It is always forward and when we run we focus only on the finish line and we don’t look at who is running with us or are people cheering for us. No, we look at the finish line and we encourage ourselves by saying “we will not stop in between but run to the finish line”, in that way we build our character which displays us not a quitter but a winner.
The struggles drain out the strength in us and we sometimes question does God ever care or love us. That’s why we have the Lord’s word with us to keep us constantly in line with His will and His promises. When we feel we are on the wrong track or trail, God steps in and pulls us back to His track. His word keeps us aligned to Him. When we keep this in mind, we will always respond in such a way that every time we are tested in life, “We will persevere”.
