Encouragement
Lord, this is my third day prayer.
On the morning of the third day, it was dark and so very gloomy.
All of the people whom you healed and love upon, has left their post at your tombstone.
The blind man, who now sees, has found his way home.
The lame man, moves with his limber legs and climbs over the hillside, seeking his own.
The woman who carried your humanity into this world, has left rags soaked with tears at the place where you lay.
The sun did not shine this day. The day when darkness reigned. Even nature refuse to open their weary eyes. The leaves on trees, sag and weep at your seeming demise.
You entered into the darkest parts of the earth proclaiming the gospel and the way to those that slept.
But where on earth are you, Lord?
Can’t you see that I need you? Why do you hide? My heart no longer wishes to beat, without the heat of the Son.
It is the third day since you were here. Now I am beginning to be afraid that I will never see you again.
You said you would never leave me? I can’t feel you and I don’t know what to do.
Dying is too easy. It’s harder to live in this giant, cold and lonely place. It takes my breath away.
But wait a minute! Aren’t you the one who gave me breath? Who knew me from before I was in my mother’s womb? Giver of Life, please visit me.
I’m looking for you. This light that you placed inside of me is growing dim. I need the fire of your love, your Spirit to come alive in me.
If this is test, surely I did not pass.
There is something in me that keeps looking to the sky. I know you promised me rain, but I only see a very small cloud in the distant horizon. I can smell the rain now, as yet I do not see.
I keep looking up, because I expect you to come. These nagging memories won’t let me rest. Memories of you moving mountains, blowing on the dry bones of my life; the images haunt me!
I can’t let go. Just in case. I know that you know I am here. The dream deferred makes my heart sick.
I cannot let go, until you have come. This is my third day prayer, Lord.
I can smell the rain…. Others think I’m crazy. This I don’t mind, because when You show up they will see.
The tomb stone, is rolled away. Where, Lord, on earth can you be?
Oh, Risen King, rise to rescue me! And bring my life back from this terrible place so that I can proclaim the beauty and majesty of your Love.
