MULTIPLICATION AND OBEDIENCE
One kingdom principle most of us are struggling to understand is the principle of multiplication. Seed are sown and remarkably an exponential growth takes place.
I believe that this principle is not to be understood but to be experienced as a reward for an obedient lifestyle. The Heavenly Father gives us instructions through the Holy Spirit; the believer answers the call of obedience and then the Heavenly Father do the multiplication supernaturally.
This is surely the biggest reason we fail to be able to reason out the process of God’s multiplication out for ourselves is based on the reality that the multiplication process of God’s kingdom is supernatural just like any other principle in God’s Kingdom.
An excellent example in Scripture comes from Luke 5 when Jesus climbed on the boat of Simon Peter asking him to take Him offshore. As Peter obeys Jesus, Jesus told Him to let down his nets into the water. Suddenly they caught so much fish that Simon Peter’s two partners (James and John, the sons of Zebedee) had to come and help. Even with two boats there were too much fish in the nets, so much so that the two boats were ready to sink.
What happens next is really the whole twist in the story we need to understand to be able to function in the principle of multiplication:
A) Simon Peter immediately recognizes Jesus Christ as His Messiah. In practical terms it means that Lord Jesus Christ uses the principle of multiplication to bring glory to His Heavenly Father in our lives as a living testimony of His goodness and grace. Therefore multiplication is never for our own benefit alone but God uses it always to advance His heavenly kingdom.
B) Jesus called Simon Peter, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, to become fishers of men. They pulled their boats to shore and leave everything behind to follow Jesus Christ. With multiplication our callings each one of us has received become reality and it kind of forces us into a reality check where we are going with our lives. It is then that we take up our crosses to follow Jesus Christ for the rest of our lives. The wonderful thing is, is that once we have experienced one event of multiplication in our lives the cycle is never ending as we keep on moving in obedience towards our Lord Jesus Christ.
What really caught ones eye is the starting point of the cycle of multiplication as well. With one small act of obedience Simon Peter put the cycle of multiplication in motion for eleven other men.
This brings the importance of obedience into view. Without obedience no kingdom principle can be set into motion. Only obedience, no matter how small, open our Heavenly Father’s hand into our lives. And the good part of all of this is the more we move into the cycle through obedience the more we shall experience God’s hand of favor in our lives, benefitting not only us personally but also the people around us.
