Continue the Process
Psalm 37:23; Joshua 1:8; Ephesians 4:1-3
Have you ever prayed and asked God for instruction and/or direction and after receiving a response you failed to act on it? I have. That’s why I am encouraged to always “continue the process” and I am encouraging you to do the same. The Word of God gives us all the help we need in doing this. Let’s look at a couple of scriptures.
“The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord, and He delights in his way [and blesses his path]” (Psalm 37:23 AMP).
A man who loves the Lord and has established a position of “right standing” in the Lord can depend on God ordering (directing) his steps, his way of living, and his lifestyle. The Lord is delighted when we walk as He directs and when we are obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit. God blesses our path when we adhere to what He is saying and to how He leads. When we are obedient to God’s directions and instructions we make our way (path, course, life) productive and successful.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8 KJV).
We begin the process of making our way prosperous by recognizing God’s voice. The daily acts of submission and obedience brings victory and success. But we must continue the process every time we hear a Word or receive a demand/command from God. The process is continued when we realize (visibly see and accept) victory and success and understand that they are results of our obedience. Remember, God delights in blessing and rewarding us. The apostle Paul gave instruction and encouragement to the church at Ephesus by telling them to “live a life worthy of the calling to which they had been called – a life that reflects godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior.
“So I, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called [that is, to live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation], 2 with all humility [forsaking self-righteousness], and gentleness [maintaining self-control], with patience, bearing with one another [a]in [unselfish] love. 3 Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful]” (Ephesians: 4:1-3).
Therefore, it’s not enough to know God’s Word and hear God’s Word. We must also obey God’s Word by living in humility and peace. Our “spiritual lights” should shine so those who are lost see Jesus in us and desire to have a sincere relationship with the Savior. It is absolutely necessary that we “continue the process” – not only for our own benefit, but also so that we are seen as living examples leading others to Christ.
