Dart:
A dart is a small narrow pointed missile shaped object that is thrown or shot at targets that are alive or stationery. Darts are not designed to kill but are quite irritating if it hits a live target. If the tips are heated in a flame they are more irritating and painful when landing on a live target. The KJV Bible uses this word to describe the irritations hurled at Christians by Satan. We find that reference in (Eph. 6:16) It tells us to be on the watch for them and gives a solution for conquering them. It says; “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”KJV With the shield of faith we can deflect the direct hit and minimize the intended affect. Satan will use anything that he can sharpen and hurl at believers to distract our focus away from God and to his irritations. We are told that he is like a roaring loin seeking whom he can devour,(1 Peter 5:8). R.W. Shambock once said; “we don’t have to worry about him devouring us be cause God has pulled all his teeth” He can still inflict us with his irritating gnaw in the form of his fiery darts. They come in all shapes, sizes and descriptions such as; children, family, job, surrounding conditions, health, finances, Utility companies, Bill collectors, disrespectful neighbors and many more. He is a master of deceit and surprise. His ultimate purpose is to destroy the child of God. He can not destroy us but he will keep plenty of his pesky darts coming our way. Those darts will constantly gnaw away at your spiritual energy and keep you weak by focusing on extinguishing the little flames. We must keep our spiritual extinguisher charged with faith which comes as a result of continual fellowship with The Father which is obtained from continual prayer, which allows us to talk to Him and continual reading of His word which allows Him to talk to us.
Satan is on his job and he is determined to win. The only way we can defeat him is by the power of the shed blood of Jesus as stated in . (Rev. 21:11). The fiery darts will not cease so we must stand firm to the end that we may reap our promised reward which will be well worth our endurance. See (Gal. 6:9 and I Cor. 2:9) that say; “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not., But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” Another final verse of consolation is (I Cor. 15:58) that says; “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
