John 2
New King James Version (NKJV)
2 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
Greetings in the name of Jesus my beloved sisters and brothers,
The above scripture passage is a very familiar passage and because of it's familiarity with many Christians, we miss the revelation of God's Word. Here, we find that Jesus and the disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Much like the wedding of the Lamb in which all mankind is invited. The problem that is encountered by Mary, Jesus mother was that there where no wine. Just as Jesus responded many of us today respond in like manner today..." What does your concern have to do with me?" The wine that is missing in many of our lives today is the wine, which is " The Holy Spirit." Just as you can not have a wedding party without wine, you can not participate in the wedding of the Lamb without the Holy Spirit. The scripture declares,"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His"(Romans 8:9). In other parts of the Gospel you will see the metaphor use " The robe of righteousness" which is referring to the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit you can not enter into the wedding of the Lamb. Examine with me Matthew 22:11-13, “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Therefore in conclusion, you must have wine at the wedding, wine represents the robe of righteousness, you must have wine at the wedding because wine represents the Holy Spirit, you must allow God to turn your water into wine. Water represents the natural man but wine represents the supernatural man...how can you pour old wine into new wineskin? You must be, you got got to be...born again! As Mary the mother of Jesus stated, Whatever He (Jesus) says to do, do it!
