THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD (PART 1)
Luke 15:11-20, then He said “A certain man had two sons, and the younger of them said to his father; “father GIVE ME the portion of goods that falls to me, so he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together , journeyed to a far country and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living ………….. But he came to himself, he said, how many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare and I perish with hunger …………… and I am no longer worthy to be called your son, MAKE ME like one of your hired servants.
The younger son, like many who are rebel and immature wanted to be free to live as he pleases and had to hit bottom before he comes to his senses. The father knew his son was not matured enough to handle those those two-third of his estate he received. I believe his father must have sat him down and advised him not to embark on such journey. According to proverb 13:1 “A wise son heareth his father instruction, but a scorner heareth not rebuke.” His father is like God, he did not force him not to do what was on his mind. What the prodigal son did when he came back to his father was what he ought to have done before he left,he said “MAKE ME”. He was suppose to go through process, mature and capable of handling some certain things . As a father, i believe no matter how much you love your 7 year old boy, you won’t buy him a car to be driving around the street, why? Because he is not mature enough to handle it and if forcefully he got it, that will be his graveyard. Until the boy grow, mature and understand road sign etc, he is not ready for it, so also it is with God. He will not bring certain things your way unless He sees you mature and grow. REMEMBER MAKING BEFORE GIVING. Many have put the cart before the horse. There is a proverb that says “ A child does not ask for the person that killed his father unless he is able to handle the sword.”
Mark 3:14-15, “Then he appointed twelve that they might be with him that He might sent them out to preach and to have power to heal sickness and to cast out demons.”
From the above scripture Jesus Christ appointed twelve disciples “that they might be with him” (MAKING) and that “he might sent them” to preach and have power to heal sickness. (GIVING). Why did they have to be with him first?, because they have to learn some principles about the mission they want to embark on, the do’s and don’ts of the assignment lest they become a cheap meat for the Lions outside . They are going out to face demons and satanic forces . He sent them out when he had made them go through process, but the prodigal son reverse the case and was brutally dealt with outside.
Act 1:4 “…….but WAIT for the promise of the father which He said you have heard from me.
Act 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.
Many want to operate in verse 8 without verse 1. Jesus told them in verse 1 to WAIT and verse 8 POWER came.
In verse 1 he told them to TARRY and verse 8 they CARRY. Tarry means wait, Carry means power.
Many want power without waiting, they want to carry without tarry. God is not a fool. He won’t destroy His own by reversing the process. The apostles needed power to witness, without it they are doomed, so they had to wait for it . There some spiritual blessings you will never enjoy until you endure, many want progress without process.
Jonah 4:6-7 “And the lord prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that he might be shade for hid head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant. But a morning dawned the next day God prepared a worm and it so damaged the plant that it withered.
God made the plant in the scripture above to die because it did not go through process and it became withered, wait for God, do not be in haste. He will come in due season.
