Galatians 5:
4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
Grace and peace to you my dear brothers and sisters,
Have you ever heard someone say," they have falling from grace?" In many religious circles the notion of falling from grace is misrepresented. It is thought of as one being so consumed in their sin that they have fallen from grace but this is a misrepresentation of God's grace. There is no sin and no amount of sin that the grace of God can not overcome and conquer. The bible declares," where sin abounded, grace abounded much more ." Romans 5:20. Therefore, my brothers and sisters it does not matter what you did, and who you did it with, there is no amount of sin that the grace of God will not cover. Love covers a multitude of sin and so does God's grace. What the above text talks about are those who are trying to justify themselves by doing the works of the law. What are the works of the law? Any works that one thinks he or she can perform to earn and justify their salvation and righteousness with God. You can't be good enough to earn salvation, the bible declares that our righteousness is as filthy rags. Also, you can't be bad enough to forfeit God's grace because the scripture teaches when we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly. In conclusion, what does the above text mean then? The only way you can fall from God's grace is that you attempt to justify yourselves by keeping a set of laws, (do's and don't). Such as, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't curse therefore I am saved...This type of thinking is called justification by law. It is good that you don't drink, smoke or curse but that will not save you.....you have fallen from grace! Only faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ to wash and cleanse you from sin and all unrigheousness is adequate to justify you for salvation and right standing with God. On Christ the solid rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand.
